TimeClick® Upgrades: New Versions and Larger Licenses

As professional time trackers, we know that time never stands still so neither do we. There are always new ideas, needs, and changing laws to keep up with and so our team works hard daily to produce software that keeps up with the businesses that use it. There are two basic types of upgrades in TimeClick; size and version upgrades. Each is beneficial to the growing business needing a scalable, evolving time tracking software.

Versions

When you talk to our support team about version updates and upgrades, those terms almost sound interchangeable but to us, they mean specific things. I’m going to share with you exactly how those terms apply to everyone who owns this time tracking software.

Upgrades

Upgrades refer to a full version change. This means new features, updated interfaces, and sometimes changes in database structure. For example, in 2016 the version that was released was LE 16 which is a separate version than LE 12. Version TC18, or TimeClick 2018, is a separate version than all the rest and is not compatible with any previous versions of TimeClick. Those who shifted from LE 16 to TC18 went through a version upgrade and converted their database to get all the new features and functionalities.

Version upgrades are typically released on a yearly basis and changes in the versions are based on customer feedback. How much an upgrade costs depends primarily on whether you are a TimeClick Unlimited member.

  • TimeClick Unlimited member – TimeClick Unlimited includes all version upgrades at no additional cost along with its other benefits. All new purchases after November 16, 2018 include the first year of the Unlimited membership which can be renewed each year to continue receiving free version upgrades. Those who purchased an annual support plan when they originally purchased TimeClick before this date are automatically enrolled in it. 
  • Annual Support plan – This gives customers unlimited technical support for the year but no free version upgrades. If the Annual Plan was not added to the cart at the time of a software purchase or you canceled your Unlimited membership, version upgrades must be paid for.
  • No Support plan or membership – Version upgrades and support for the upgrades don’t come free.

Updates

Version updates usually are much smaller than upgrades. In the past, TimeClick versions weren’t updated throughout the year so what you got was what you got in versions LE 16 and earlier. Updates became a thing with the release of TC18 (which is another reason why upgrading to TC18 is a great idea if you haven’t gotten it already). Every couple of weeks, a software update is rolled out for all those using TC18. Each update introduces small new features, minor bug fixes, etc. all under the umbrella of TC18. License Size Changes

Upgrading Sizes

If your company is growing, congratulations! We want to accommodate your needs which is why we allow upgrades in license size. Licenses come in packages or groups of computers. They are as follows

LITE – One computer, limited to 4 employees tracked

Single Computer – One computer, unlimited employees tracked

2 – 5 Computers

6 – 10 Computers

11 – 25 Computers

26 – 50 Computers

50 – 99 Computers

100+ (Site license)

Any license size larger than a Single Computer license is considered a Network license because multiple computers communicate with one another across your local network. For more information visit our pricing page.

So let’s say you got the 2-5 Computer license a year ago and have since hired two more employees with their own computers. You can upgrade to the 6-10 Computer license for only $125. If you’re a member of TimeClick Unlimited you get a 20% discount on that price (talk about benefits). The cost of upgrading your Annual Support plan or Unlimited membership coverage along with the size change is only the difference between the two plan sizes. In the scenario above, it’s a difference of $20. For gaining 5 more computers on your network and keeping your Support plan and/or Unlimited membership, that’s a great deal!

Adding Locations

Some businesses have two or more separate locations that need two or more different databases. Discounts are offered to those businesses who have multiple locations with multiple databases. Each database purchased after the initial license has the discount applied.
