If you’re running the Network Version of TimeClick, you’ll need the internal IP address of your server computer. This is how each workstation knows where to find the TimeClick database on your network.
Here’s how to find your server’s internal IP address:
-
First, go to the computer that’s acting as your TimeClick server. This is the one that stores the database and has the gray TimeClick icon.
- Windows 10 or Windows 11: Press the Windows key, type Command Prompt or cmd, and open it (you can choose Run as administrator, but it’s not required).
- Quick shortcut: Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
-
Once the Command Prompt opens, click inside the window, type
ipconfig, and press Enter. -
You’ll see a lot of text scroll by. Look for IPv4 Address. The numbers next to it (something like 192.168.1.100) are the internal IP address of your server.
What to do with that IP address
You’ll use this number when setting up a new TimeClick workstation so it knows how to connect to the server. If you’re updating an existing workstation, you can reenter the IP address in TimeClick’s connection settings:
- TimeClick 25: Open System Info and look for the IP Address field, or access the connection settings from the main menu.
- TimeClick 21 or older: Go to Connection settings from the main menu, or use Start → All Programs → TimeClick → Client Config.
Once the correct IP address is entered, your workstation will connect normally and you’ll be able to access your employee time clock data without any issues.
