Welcome to the next version of TimeClick. This quick guide will walk you through the upgrade process step by step so you can be up and running in minutes.

There are two ways to upgrade, depending on where you download the installer. We’ll walk you through both options.
Step 1: Make Sure You’re Eligible
To upgrade to TimeClick 25, you’ll need:
- An active TimeClick Unlimited Membership
- Windows 10 or newer (Windows 8 and earlier are not supported)
If you’re already on Unlimited, you’re all set - the upgrade is free and part of your plan.

Step 2: Back Up Your Data
Before upgrading, take a quick moment to back up your data. It only takes a few seconds and ensures everything stays safe.
Open Admin Mode → Utilities → Back Up Now
Step 3: Choose Your Upgrade Path
There are two simple ways to install TimeClick 25, depending on where you get your installer.
Route 1: Direct Email Link (Recommended)
If you received our TimeClick 25 email with a download link, this is the fastest and easiest way to upgrade:
- Install TimeClick 25 directly from the link in your email.
- The link is only sent to active TimeClick Unlimited members - if you received it, you’re eligible.
- Your registration automatically carries over from TimeClick 21 → TimeClick 25. No need to unregister, reregister, or reinstall anything.
Here’s how to do it:
- Start with your server computer (takes about 1–2 minutes).
- Then update each client computer (about 1 minute each).
- You can either use the same email link on each computer, or download the installer once and copy it to your other devices - both work fine.
Route 2: Website Download
If you’re downloading TimeClick 25 from our website (timeclick.com/download), here’s what to do:

On your server computer, first unregister and back up your data: open TimeClick → Admin Mode → Utilities → Unregister & Export Database.
Follow the prompts, save the backup (the default location is fine), and write down your registration code. Once that’s done, TimeClick will close automatically.
- Download and open the TC 25 Server installer from the website. It will uninstall your old version first, then install the new one.
- During uninstall, you’ll see two questions:
- Uninstall TimeClick and all its modules? → YES
- Delete your data? → NO (you’ve already made a backup, but this keeps your data in place)
- Continue through the uninstall, and TC 25 will begin installing.
- During setup, you’ll see this prompt:
- TimeClick found an existing database on this computer. Do you want to start a new one? → NO
- Once installation finishes, TimeClick 25 will open in trial mode (fully functional for 14 days). You should see all your employees and data right away. Enter your registration code to unlock the full version.
This route takes a bit longer since it reinstalls TimeClick from scratch, but it’s still quick - usually about 3 minutes for the server and 2 minutes for each client computer.
PLAN YOUR UPGRADE
Make sure to update both your server and client computers. If only the server is updated, clients will show connection errors until they’re upgraded too.
Special Note: Older Versions (TC 17–20)
If you’re upgrading from TC 17–20, follow the same steps. Instead of a registration code, you’ll be given a transfer key - send that to support@timeclick.com along with your company name, and we’ll send back your new registration code.
Step 4: Upgrade Expectations
Do I need to upgrade right away?
No, your current version will still work just fine. You can upgrade whenever it’s convenient.
Is the upgrade free?
If you have an active TimeClick Unlimited membership and received our TC 25 email, then yes - it’s completely free and included in your plan.
If you don’t have an active membership, contact sales@timeclick.com for a quick quote.
Step 5: Upgrade Order
When you’re ready to start:
- Update your server computer first (takes 1–3 minutes depending on your route).
- Then update each client computer (1–2 minutes each).
TIMECLICK TIP
If you have more than 10 client computers, plan to run the upgrade after business hours to avoid interruptions.
Step 6: You’re Done!
Once the upgrade is complete, log in as usual and explore the new features in TimeClick 25:
- A cleaner, updated interface
- Geo-fencing and location tools for mobile
- More detailed payroll reports
- And plenty more under the hood
